Warnings About
Vitamins For Joint Pain

Although not technically a vitamin for joint pain, Glucosamine is well known as a substance that provides the natural building blocks to grow, repair and maintain cartilage.

Glucosamine and chondroitin help cartilage absorb water and thereby keep the joints lubricated.

Many studies have found that glucosamine can improve joint function and aid in the reduction of joint pain.

Jason Theodosakis, MD, author of "The Arthritis Cure" and who served on the oversight committe for the National Institutes of Health trial on glucosamine and chondroitin says:

"There is also enough scientific evidence -- 42 human clinical trials to date -- to recommend the use of glucosamine and chondroitin."

The most recommened dosage is 1,500 mg of glucosamine per day.

BUT THERE IS A BIG PROBLEM!

The nutrition industry is not closely regulated.

It's hard to evaluate the supplements of one brand over against another just by reading their labels.

What's on the label isn't necessarily in the bottle.

There are MANY documented cases where the potency listed on the labels of various nutrition products was not actually what was in the bottle.

All potencies are not created equal.

You may compare the labels of 2 bottles from different manufactures and everything looks the same. The both contain the same number of mg of the ingredients you're interested in. But here's where they get you. To save money, one company may put a lower grade quality of the same ingredient in their products and that can make all the difference in the world.

What's in the bottle doesn't get used by your body!

Another problem is the "binders" manufacturers use in their pills and tablets to hold them together. The cheap binders don't break down well in the body, so even if the pill has the potency listed on the bottle, the pills don't break down in the body and so your body doesn't absorb the entire dosage.

This is a well-known problem in the nutrition industry. So much so that it's developed a nick-name of "pooping pills!"

The best solution is to use a liquid product since they are supremely bioavailable and don't need any type of binders.

What ELSE is in the bottle can hurt you!

And then there's the problem of "What else is in the product?" Unfortunately impurities are sometimes found in products either intentionally or unintentionally. Many supplements on the low and middle end of the price range contain contaminants, especially lead!

These are COMMON problems!

Many of these problems have been found even among some of the biggest and most "reputable" brand name manufacturers unfortunately.

The Physicians Managment Journal estimates that 1/3 of money spent on supplements is totally wasted!

If you'd like to read more about these problems and how pervasive they are in the nutrition industry, here's some links for you:

HOW TO MAKE SURE YOU'RE GETTING QUALITY SUPPLEMENTS:

As the above article, "Lead Found in Many Supplements," indicates, most of these problems are found in nutrional supplements on the low to mid price range. The axiom, "You get what you pay for" applies here more than anywhere else.

None of us can afford the to pay the higher price range on every product we buy, but there is no better investment than your own health, so this is the place to do it.

Liquids are generally more bioavailable then pills, capsules and tablets in general, so often the potency of a liquid nutrition product isn't as high as for pills simply because it doesn't need to be for you to get the same amount used by your body.

But even liquids are not all created equal. You want to make sure:

    1. They use "sequential mixing" as described on my site.
    2. They use FDA approved compounds.

    3. Every batch of their product is sent out for 3RD PARTY TESTING to document the potency and purity of the product.

Look for these qualities in any nutrition supplement you buy. If it doesn't mention these things you can be assured it doesn't have them ... or they'd be bragging about it.

This type of quality does cost extra, but it also assures that you're getting an excellent product and won't have to waste your money trying 5 products before you find one that works.

You may be able to find these qualities in a product in your local health food store.

I found them with a company called Life Force International.

Even though they're aren't required to do it by law, Life Force has their products documented by a 3rd party because their initial customers were doctors and health professionals and those practioners needed to see the documentation and verification before they would recommend the products to their patients.
